Mohair (English Mohair; Turkish: MUKHYAR), refers to the coat of Angora goats, also known as Angora goat hair, is a typical long goat hair with strong luster, and is a special animal hair. The word "Mahai" comes from Arabic, meaning "silk-like goat hair fabric", and later became the proper name for Angora goat hair. Angolan goat hair is native to Turkey's Angola Province, and was exported to South Africa's Cape of Good Hope and Texas in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. South Africa, Turkey and the United States have become the three major producing areas of mohair. The total world production of mohair in 1980 was 16,200 tons
